Wealth people fear that one party or the other might make them homeless. Homeless people don't fear that either party will make them wealthy.

This is a world wide phenomenon. The rich have influence and power and effectively run the show, the middle classes care because they are savvy enough to know that it's possible to change the situation if enough people get out and vote but unfortunately they need the support of the poor who collectively believe that the social order will never change and therefore believe that voting is a waste of time. When governments stop legislating for the rich and begin to give real assistance to the poor in terms of health and education then they will become interested in who forms the government.

homeless people are more worried about finding there next meal, beer, and shelter. they don't give a rat's @$$ about politics.

I believe the reason that you can not comprehend the reason why is because you have never been homeless – which is a good thing. I work with the homeless, the unemployed, poor, disabled – and the truth of the matter is, they have bigger issues on their mind than what is liberalism or what is conservatism.

When basic needs are unmet- people operate from a more primative level- seeking basic needs; shelter, food, and clothing.

It is when not only basic needs are met, but emotional and other needs are met, that a person can begin dwelling on more abstract ideas, and look outward instead of inward.

Tell me, when you are so cold, actually shivering, can you think of anything else? [other than wanting to be warm?]
